Who loves a great opportunity to break out a beautiful dress and fun hat? We know that it’s our personal favorite around here. The Kentucky Derby is strongly rooted in tradition, something you’ve got to love about The South. Whether you’re watching at Churchill Downs or at your own home, we like to bring a little touch of Savannah everywhere we go. That’s why we’ll be sipping on this fabulous Sweet Tea Mint Julep this year!
- 1/2 cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 cups cold sweet tea
- 1 cup bourbon
- Crushed ice
- Garnish: fresh mint sprigs
Combine first 3 ingredients in a 2-qt. pitcher. Press mint leaves against sides of pitcher with back of spoon to release flavors. Stir in tea and bourbon. Serve over crushed ice. Garnish, if desired.
